About Me
My Journey in Nursing, Care, and Continuous Learning.
I am Vaanila Swarnamyuran, a dedicated Critical Care Nursing Professional with a strong academic foundation in Medical Surgical Nursing (MSc – Critical Care) and hands-on experience in clinical practice, teaching, and patient-centered care.
My journey into healthcare has been shaped by resilience, adaptability, and a deep commitment to compassionate care.
Early Life & Educational Journey
I was born in October 1996 in Puthukkudiyiruppu, located in the Mullaitivu District of Island of Ceylon. My early education began at a Christian institution, CSI Nursery, followed by primary schooling at Kilinochchi Maha Vidyalayam.
During my schooling years, I transitioned through multiple educational environments, including Kilinochchi Central College. Due to the civil conflict in Sri Lanka, I relocated to Tamil Nadu, India, in 2009, where I continued my education.
Adapting to a new academic system, I transitioned from Tamil-medium to English-medium education, successfully completing my secondary and higher secondary studies in Dindigul District. This experience strengthened my adaptability, communication skills, and academic resilience.
Higher Education & Professional Growth
Driven by a passion for healthcare, I pursued a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Child Jesus College of Nursing, Tiruchirappalli, affiliated with Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University.
After graduation, I gained valuable experience as a Clinical Instructor, where I trained and mentored nursing students for over two years.
I then advanced my expertise by completing a Master of Science in Nursing (Medical Surgical Nursing – Critical Care) at Dr. Sakunthala College of Nursing, further strengthening my specialization in ICU care, patient monitoring, and emergency response.
Professional Experience
Following my postgraduate studies, I served as a Nursing Lecturer, contributing to academic development and clinical education.
After returning to Sri Lanka, I worked as a Ward In-Charge at Venus Speciality Hospital in Jaffna, where I was responsible for:
- Managing patient care in high-dependency settings
- Coordinating multidisciplinary healthcare teams
- Ensuring quality and safety in clinical practice
This role enhanced my leadership skills and deepened my commitment to evidence-based critical care nursing.
Clinical Philosophy & Mission
My approach to nursing is rooted in:
- Patient-centered care
- Evidence-based clinical practice

I believe that healthcare is not only about treatment but also about education, empathy, and empowerment.
